Wastegate Solenoid: Description and Operation

The turbo boost control solenoid, Fig. 14, mounted on the turbocharger, controls turbo boost signal applied to the wastegate actuator. When the solenoid is de-energized, boost signal is applied to the actuator and when energized, the boost signal is vented to the atmosphere. The solenoid is controlled by a signal from the electronic control assembly.
