Fig. 21 Adjusting Yoke Locknut:





1. With rack out of vehicle, measure pinion torque using an inch lb. torque wrench and pinion adapter tool No. T88C-3504-BH. Torque should be 88.5-123.9 inch lbs.
2. If pinion torque is not within specification, loosen pinion locknut.
3. Using torque gauge tool No. T88C-3504-AH or equivalent, torque adjusting cover to 39-48 inch lbs. then loosen it 35°, Fig. 21.
4. Using yoke locknut wrench tool No. T88C-3504-KH, torque locknut to 29-36 ft. lbs.
