RADIO - POWER ANTENNA MAST - SERVICE PART AVAILABILITY

FORD: 1989 PROBE


ISSUE: Broken or bent power radio antenna masts may be serviced without replacing the antenna motor and tube assembly. A new power antenna mast is now available for service.


ACTION: If service is required, install a new power radio antenna mast. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

FIGURE 13:

1. Unscrew and remove the antenna bezel, Figure 13.

2. Remove the bezel mount and O-ring.

3. Firmly pull the antenna mast out of the antenna body.

FIGURE 14:

4. Insert the cable end of the new antenna mast into the antenna body and engage the cable end into the antenna motor, Figure 14.

5. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and turn the radio "ON" and "OFF". This will wind the antenna mast cable onto the antenna motor.

6. Install the bezel mount and O-ring.

7. Install the antenna bezel.
