^ SUN ROOF - EXTERIOR WEATHERSTRIP HAS WHITE CHALKY WAX APPEARANCE
FORD: 1989-90 PROBE
ISSUE: The exterior weatherstrip surrounding the sun roof glass may have a white chalky wax appearance. This condition may be caused by the material the weatherstrip is made from.
ACTION: Install a new improved sun roof weatherstrip. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1. Remove the sun roof from the vehicle. Refer to the 1989/90 Probe Shop Manual, Section 46-12 for service details.

2. Place the glass on a protected bench. Be careful not to scratch the glass or damage the hinges or latch handle, Figure 1.
3. Remove the original weatherstrip from the glass.

4. Obtain the new weatherstrip and determine the outside (curved) section and the inside (flat) section, Figure 2.

5. Install the new weatherstrip with the center seam at the center of the latch handle, Figure 3.

6. Use a rubber mallet to gently seat the weatherstrip to the glass. Start at the corners and work in sequence 1, 2, 3 and 4 as shown in Figure 4.
NOTE: AVOID HITTING THE HINGES WITH THE MALLET.
7. Re-install the sun roof into the vehicle. Refer to the 1989/90 Probe Shop Manual, Section 46-12 for service details.
