Antenna: Description and Operation

When the Radio is turned on, current is applied through the Radio to energize the internal relay coil of the Power Antenna Assembly. With the coil energized, the relay contacts are pulled to the UP position and current is applied through the ROOM fuse to the motor of the Power Antenna Assembly. The motor receives a ground and raises the antenna mast. Once the antenna mast reaches its full UP position, the contacts open, removing the ground from the motor.

When the Radio is in the OFF position, the relay coil is de-energized and the relay contacts are switched to the DOWN position. Current is supplied to the motor through the ROOM fuse. The motor operates in the reverse direction, and the antenna mast is lowered. If the Ignition Switch is in the OFF position, with the Radio in the ON position, the coil of the Power Antenna Assembly will de-energize and the antenna mast will lower.
