Courtesy Lamp: Description and Operation

Voltage is applied at all times to the Courtesy Lamps through the ROOM fuse.

When the liftgate is opened, the Luggage Compartment Switch closes and a ground is supplied to the Luggage Compartment Lamp.

Door and Ignition Key Cylinder Lamps

The Door Key Cylinder and Ignition Key Cylinder Lamps are activated by lifting either door handle. The timing circuit of the Central Processing Unit is activated and a ground is supplied to the lamp for approximately 30 seconds.

Illuminated Entry

In vehicles equipped with illuminated entry, the LH Front Foot Lamp, RH Front Foot Lamp and Rear Foot Lamp operate whenever a Door Catch Switch is closed (by opening either door).

Map and Dome Lamps

A ground is supplied to the Map Lamps whenever the lamp is pressed to the ON position. The Dome Lamp is operated by a switch mounted forward of the lamp itself. When the switch is in the ON position, a ground for the Dome Lamp is supplied through the casing. If the switch is in the DOOR position, the Dome Lamp will light whenever a door is opened. With the switch in the OFF position, the Dome Lamp will not light when the door is opened.

Glove Compartment Lamp

The Glove Compartment Lamp Switch is closed whenever the glove compartment is open. When the Headlamp Switch is in the PARK or HEAD position, current flows from the TAIL fuse to the Headlamp Switch. When the Glove Compartment Lamp Switch is closed, current flows from the Headlamp Switch through the Glove Compartment Lamp and Switch to ground, causing the Glove Compartment Lamp to light.

Hood Lamp

Voltage is applied at all times through the AUDIO fuse of the Main Fuse Panel to the Hood Lamp Switch. With the hood open, the Hood Lamp Switch closes and current flows to the Hood Lamp.

Vanity Lamp

Vanity Lamps have voltage applied to the individual switches at all times. When the mirror cover is opened, current flows to the lamp.
