Throttle Body: Description and Operation

Throttle Body Assembly (2.2L):

PURPOSE
The throttle body assembly controls engine intake airflow by way of dual butterfly valves.

LOCATION
Mounted to intake manifold/plenum.

OPERATION
Throttle linkage regulating butterfly operation is connected to the accelerator pedal assembly via a cable.

CONSTRUCTION
Constructed as a unit of die cast aluminum with an air bypass around the primary throttle plate.
