Radio/Stereo: Description and Operation

RADIO DISPLAY ILLUMINATION

The Instrument Panel Dimming Module controls the brightness of the Electronic Radio illumination bulbs, as well as the brightness of the VTF time/frequency display.

AM/FM STEREO

Voltage is present at C211, pin H of the Radio at all times through the ROOM Fuse and circuit 84 (BL/R). This provides constant power to the Radio clock and station preset memory circuits.

With the Ignition Switch in "ACC" or "RUN". voltage is also present at C211, pin F of the Radio through the RADIO Fuse and circuit 31 (BL/W).

When the Electronic Radio is turned on, current flows through the RADIO Fuse, circuit 31 (BL/W) and the Radio circuits to ground. The Radio now turns ON.

PREMIUM SOUND

Voltage is present at C211, pin H of the Radio at all times through the ROOM Fuse and circuit 84 (BL/R). This provides constant power to the Radio clock and station preset memory circuits.

With the Ignition Switch in ACC or "RUN", voltage is also present at the Electronic Radio and the Premium Sound Amplifier through the RADIO Fuse and circuit 31 (BL/W).

When the Electronic Radio is turned on, current flow through the RADIO Fuse, circuit 31 (BL/W), and the Electronic Radio circuits to ground. The Electronic Radio then applies voltage to C315 of the Premium Sound Amplifier on circuit 214 (G/R). The Radio and Amplifier turn on.
