Radiator: Service and Repair

WARNING: Allow radiator to cool prior to beginning the following procedure. Slowly remove radiator cap to release system pressure. Caution must be used as system contains scalding hot fluid which when under pressure can blow out of radiator fill neck, causing personal injury.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Slowly remove radiator cap, then open drain valve at bottom of radiator and drain system.
3. Remove fresh air duct.
4. Remove upper and lower radiator hoses.
5. Disconnect overflow hose.
6. Disconnect cooling fan motor electrical connector.
7. On models equipped with automatic transaxle, disconnect transaxle oil cooler lines at radiator and plug hose ends to prevent leakage.
8. Remove radiator mounting brackets.
9. Remove radiator and cooling fan assembly from vehicle.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting following:
11. Tighten radiator mounting bracket bolts specifications.
12. Check and fill cooling system and transaxle fluid levels.
13. Operate engine until normal engine coolant temperature is reached and check for leaks.
