Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then isolate cable end with electrical tape or equivalent.
2. Remove seven exhaust manifold heat shield bolts, then the heat shield.
3. Disconnect oxygen sensor connector, then using EGO sensor wrench T79P-9472-A or equivalent, remove sensor.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Support exhaust system with wire, then remove three converter inlet pipe to exhaust manifold attaching nuts. Discard nuts.
6. Remove EGR pipe from back of exhaust manifold.
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Remove exhaust manifold mounting nuts, bolts and gasket. Discard nuts and manifold gasket.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tighten exhaust manifold mounting bolts to 12-17 ft lb.
b. Tighten new exhaust manifold mounting nuts to 14-21 ft lb.
