Underhood Lamp: Description and Operation

Voltage is present at the Engine Compartment Lamp Mercury Switch at all times through the ROOM Fuse.

Opening the hood causes the Engine Compartment Lamp Mercury Switch to close. Current flows through the ROOM Fuse and the Engine Compartment Lamp to ground. The Engine Compartment Lamp illuminates.
