Oil Pump: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove timing belt.
2. Remove oil pan.
3. Discharge refrigerant from A/C system, then remove A/C compressor and mounting bracket.
4. Remove power steering pump and tensioner.
5. Using Crankshaft Damper Remover tool T74P-6316-A or equivalent, remove crankshaft timing gear from crankshaft.
6. Remove nine oil pump attaching bolts, then the two oil strainer to oil pump bolts.
7. Remove oil pump and housing from engine block.
8. Remove O-ring, then any sealant from oil pump mating surfaces.
9. Using a press and Front Seal Replacer tool T74P-6150-A or equivalent, remove oil seal from oil pump housing.
INSTALLATION
1. Using a press and Front Seal Replacer tool T74P-6150-A or equivalent, install a new oil seal.
2. Fit oil pump with a new O-ring.
3. Apply a continuous bead of silicone sealant to mating surface of oil pump. Install pump within five minutes of sealant application, then tighten pump retaining bolts to 14-18 ft lb.
CAUTION: Prevent sealant from entering oil hole.
4. Install crankshaft timing gear and key.
5. Install power steering pump and tensioner.
6. Attach A/C compressor bracket to engine block.
7. Attach A/C compressor to its mounting bracket.
8. Install oil strainer to oil pump and torque bolts to 71-88 in lb. Then, install oil pan.
9. Install timing belt.
10. Evacuate and recharge A/C system.
