Brake Pedal Assy: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. If equipped, remove the vacuum line to the speed control dump valve.
2. Disconnect the Brake On/Off (BOO) switch electrical connector.





3. Remove the spring clip and clevis pin.
4. Remove the steering column.
5. Remove the five brake pedal bracket nuts.
6. Remove the brake pedal. Inspect the brake pedal for any bending or damage. Inspect the brake pedal pad for wear or damage.





7. Remove the brake pedal bolt from the bracket.
8. Remove the nut, washer and brake pedal return spring from the brake pedal bolt.

INSTALLATION
1. Apply white lithium grease to the brake pedal clevis pin.





2. Position the brake pedal return spring on the brake pedal. Use a piece of tape to hold the brake pedal return spring in position.
3. Install the brake pedal into the brake pedal bracket and install the brake pedal bolt, washer and nut.
4. Position the master cylinder push rod fork end bracket on the brake pedal.
5. Install the brake pedal clevis pin in the master cylinder push rod fork end bracket and brake pedal. Insert the spring clip through the brake pedal clevis pin.
6. Install the five brake pedal bracket nuts. Tighten the brake pedal bracket nuts to 19-25 Nm (14-19 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the steering column.
8. Connect the BOO switch electrical connector.
9. If equipped, install the vacuum line to the speed control dump valve.
