Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. With a line wrench loosen all of the brake lines connected to the brake pressure control valve.

CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.

2. Disconnect all brake lines to the brake pressure control valve.
3. Remove the two brake pressure control valve bolts and the brake pressure control valve.

INSTALLATION

1. Position the brake pressure control valve on the bulkhead and loosely install one of the brake pressure control valve bolts.

NOTE: Install the brake pressure control valve with the "R" marks facing the driver's side.

2. Loosely install the brake tubes into the brake pressure control valve.
3. Install the other brake pressure control valve bolt into the brake pressure control valve and tighten both brake pressure control valve bolts to 19-23 Nm (14-17 ft. lbs.).
4. Tighten all of the brake line flare nuts to 13-22 Nm (10-16 ft. lbs.). Bleed the brakes. If the system is being manually bled, bleed the brake lines at the brake pressure control valve first and then at the wheels.
