Parking Brake Cable: Adjustments

1. Before adjusting the front parking brake cable and conduit, start the engine and depress the brake pedal several times while the vehicle is moving in REVERSE (R).
2. Stop the engine.
3. Remove the console panel.
4. Remove the three parking brake lever boot screws and remove the parking brake lever boot.

5. Turn the parking brake control adjusting nut at the front of the parking brake control. This shortens the front parking brake cable and conduit. Tighten the parking brake control adjusting nut until it takes 5 to 7 notches to fully set the parking brake.

CAUTION: After performing the initial adjustment procedure, turn the ignition switch ON, pull the parking brake control one notch and check that the parking brake warning indicator lamp illuminates. Verify that the rear brakes do not drag.
