Rear
REMOVAL1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
3. On rear drum brakes:
^ Remove the wheel hub.

^ Disconnect the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the parking brake lever.
^ Remove the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the hole in the rear brake backing plate.
4. On rear disc brakes:

^ Remove the parking brake rear cable and conduit clip.

^ Loosen the parking brake rear cable and conduit adjusting nut and remove the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the rear brake operating lever.

5. Remove the four parking brake rear cable and conduit clamp nuts from the trailing link.
6. Remove the rear floor heat deflector.

7. Remove the two parking brake rear cable and conduit clamp nuts from the body.

8. Remove the two parking brake rear cable and conduit ends from the equalizer.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the two parking brake rear cable and conduit ends into the equalizer.

2. Install the two parking brake rear cable and conduit clamps on the body.
NOTE: Apply Ford Multi-Purpose Grease DOAZ-19584-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M1C93-B and ESR-M1C159-A to the parking brake rear cable and conduit clamps.
3. Install the four parking brake rear cable and conduit clamps on each trailing link. Tighten the four parking brake rear cable and conduit clamp nuts to 19-25 Nm (14-19 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the rear floor heat deflector.
5. On rear drum brakes:
^ Route the parking brake rear cable and conduit through the hole inn the rear brake backing plat and connect it to the parking brake lever.
^ Install the wheel hub.
6. On rear disc brakes:
^ Connect the parking brake rear cable and conduit to the rear brake operating lever.
NOTE: There must be no clearance between the parking brake rear cable and conduit an the rear brake operating lever.
^ Install the parking brake rear cable and conduit clip.
^ Tighten the parking brake rear cable and conduit adjusting nut.
7. Install the wheel and tire assembly. Tighten the lug nuts to 88-118 Nm (65-87 ft. lbs.).
8. Lower the vehicle.
