Two camshafts, one intake and one exhaust, are installed in each cylinder head and supported by four main journals. The distributor is driven by the exhaust camshaft in the front cylinder head. One camshaft on the front cylinder head and one camshaft on the rear cylinder head are fitted with a camshaft sprocket friction gear. This camshaft sprocket friction gear is mounted to each camshaft driven gear. This gear assembly reduces gear lash and gear noise. The camshaft sprocket friction gear assembly consists of the camshaft sprocket friction gear, camshaft sprocket spacer, camshaft sprocket washer and the cam nut.
