Valve: Service and Repair

NOTE: Make sure that the grinding wheels on the refacer are properly dressed.





Minor pits or grooves in the valve may be removed by refacing the valve. Discard valves that are severely damaged, if the face runout cannot be corrected by refinishing, or if the stem clearance exceeds specification.

The valve refacing operation should be closely coordinated with the valve seat refacing operation so that the finished angles of the valve face and valve seat will be to specification and provide a compression-tight fit.
