Intake Manifold: Testing and Inspection

CAUTION: Remove all filing and foreign matter that may have entered the intake manifold as a result of service. Check the baffle plate(s) on the underside of the intake manifold if so equipped. The baffle(s) should be securely fastened.

CLEANING
Remove all gasket material from the machined surfaces of the intake manifold. Clean the intake manifold in a suitable solvent and dry it with compressed air.

INSPECTION
Inspect the intake manifolds for cracks, damaged gasket surfaces, or other damage that would make them unfit for further service. Replace all studs that are stripped or otherwise damaged. Clean the EGR exhaust passages.

Check the intake manifold for flatness. Place a straightedge across the intake manifold. Use a feeler gauge between the straightedge and the intake manifold to measure the flatness.
