Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Drain the engine coolant into a suitable container.
2. Remove the engine front covers and timing belt.





3. Use Water Pump Pulley Tool T92C-6312-AH to remove the four water pump pulley bolts and then remove the water pump pulley.
4. Position a drain pan under the water pump.
5. Remove the three front engine support insulator mounting bracket bolts.





6. Remove the five water pump bolts and the water pump.
7. Remove water pump housing gasket and discard.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Install a new water pump housing gasket on the water pump.
^ Tighten the five water pump bolts to 19-25 Nm (14-18 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the four water pump pulley bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).
^ Tighten the front engine support insulator mounting bracket bolts to 44-60 Nm (32-44 ft. lbs.).
