Coupler HVAC: Description and Operation

An A/C tube lock coupling is a refrigerant line coupling held together by an A/C tube lock coupling spring inside a circular cage.

When the coupling is connected, the flared end of the female fitting slips behind the A/C tube lock coupling spring, inside the cage of the male fitting. The A/C tube lock coupling spring and cage then prevent the flared end of the female fitting from pulling out of the cage.

Two O-rings are used to seal the coupling. These O-rings are made of special material and must be replaced with an O-ring made of the same material. Use only the O-rings listed in the Master Parts catalog for the A/C tube lock coupling.

An A/C tube lock coupling clip is used with the A/C tube lock couplings to ensure that the couplings remain connected. The A/C tube lock coupling clip slides over the cage of the male fitting after the coupling has been connected.
