Tension Adjustment

1. Place the belt tension gauge at a point midway between two pulleys and measure the tension.
2. The tension for the drive belt should measure 550-680 N (130-150 lb) for a new belt and 400-530 N (88-120 lb) for a used belt. The limit for belt tension is 340 N (77 lb).
NOTE: A drive belt is considered new if it has been used on a running engine for less than five minutes.
