Wheel Fastener
SERVICE NOTES^ All vehicles use metric lug nuts. Replacement lug nuts must be of the same type and thread size. All metric lug nuts are identified by the word METRIC stamped on the lug nut.
^ Aluminum wheels must use special "bulge" type metric lug nuts with enlarged chamfers, or distortion of the lug nut seats will result.
^ Wheels are available with anti-theft lug nuts (one per wheel) that are installed during vehicle pre-delivery. The lug nut key is attached to the lug nut wrench, and stowed with the spare tire. To remove or install the anti-theft lug nut, insert the lug nut key into the slot of the lug nut, place the lug nut wrench on the lug nut key, and while applying pressure on the lug nut key, remove or install the lug nut.
CAUTION: Make sure the lug nut key is held square to the wheel hub bolt and lug nut. If the lug nut key is on an angle, it may damage the lug nut key and the anti-theft wheel. DO NOT use a power impact wrench on the lug nut key.
^ An additional balance weight has been placed 180° ±10° opposite of the anti-theft lug nut on all vehicles. To maintain proper wheel balance, the anti-theft lug nut should always be installed in its original wheel bolt hole location after service.
