Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve: Testing and Inspection
NOTE: Perform this inspection while the engine is cold.1. Run the engine at idle.
Crankcase Ventilation System:

2. Disconnect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve along with the crankcase ventilation tube from the valve cover.
3. Block the PCV valve opening.
4. Verify that vacuum is felt.
PCV Valve:

5. Turn the engine OFF and remove the PCV valve from the crankcase ventilation tube.
6. Inspect for and clean any dirt or other deposits from the PCV valve.
PCV Valve:

7. Blow through the PCV valve from port A and verify that air comes out of port B.
8. Blow through the PCV valve from port B and verify that no air comes out of port A.
9. Replace the PCV valve if results are not as specified.
