Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Adjustments

1. Ensure that the vehicle's front wheels are in the straight ahead position.

WARNING: The electrical circuit necessary for the AIR BAG MODULE deployment is powered directly from the battery. To avoid accidental DEPLOYMENT and possible personal INJURY, the battery ground cable must be disconnected prior to servicing or replacing ANY air bag (SRS) system components.

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait one minute for the backup power supply energy to be depleted.
3. Remove the steering wheel.

CAUTION: Do not apply excessive force to the air bag sliding contact.

4. Turn the air bag sliding contact clockwise until it stops.
5. Rotate the air bag sliding contact counterclockwise 2.75 turns.
6. Align the marks on the air bag sliding contact with the marks on the outer housing.
7. Install the steering wheel.
8. Connect the battery ground cable.
