Child Seat Tether Attachment: Description and Operation

If a child safety belt anchor tether kit is required for the child safety seat but is not provided by the child safety seat manufacturer, the anchor tether kit can be obtained at no charge from any Ford dealer. Attachment holes for each rear seating position have been provided in all vehicles.

Some child safety seats provide a tether strap which goes over the back of the vehicle seat and is intended to attach to an anchor in the center floor pan behind the rear seat.

If a tethered child safety seat is installed in the front seat, the tether strap must be hooked to the rear seat safety belt tongue or the webbing of the buckled rear seat safety belt behind the child safety seat. Attachment holes (for each rear seating position) have been provided to attach the child safety belt anchor tether kit.
