Tie Rod Boot: Testing and Inspection

CAUTION: Rubber boots must be handled carefully to avoid damage. Use new clamps when installing boots.

^ Water or dust in the rubber boots will affect the operation and durability of the steering gear, including the tie rod end.
^ Inspect the boots at the locations shown on the following diagram for cracks, cuts, deterioration, twisting and distortion.
^ Check the boot clamps to make sure they are tight. If any of the boots fail the inspection, replace them.
