Suspension: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThe rear suspension is fully independent utilizing a MacPherson spring and shock absorber at each rear wheel. A cast alloy rear wheel spindle bolts to the rear shock absorber, rear suspension arm and bushings, and a single trailing link. These components and the rear floor cross member make up the rear suspension.
OPERATION
^ Both the rear suspension arm and bushing and the trailing link have rubber bushings at each end. The rear suspension arm and bushings are attached to the rear floor cross member and the rear wheel spindle with a shared spindle through bolt and nut assembly at each end. The trailing link bolts to the rear wheel spindle and a bracket on the floorpan.
^ The rear stabilizer bar reduces body roll improving vehicle handling and control. Stabilizer bar brackets and lower suspension arm stabilizer bar insulators hold the rear stabilizer bar in position on the rear floor cross member. A rear stabilizer bar link connects each end of the rear stabilizer bar to the rear suspension arm and bushing (rear).
