Spare Tire: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
The temporary spare is lightweight and is for limited mileage, emergency use only. It should be used only until the regular tire is serviced. This tire is identified by the wording TEMPORARY USE ONLY moulded into the tire.

OPERATION

WARNING: The TEMPORARY SPARE tire is provided only for temporary EMERGENCY use. Do not use as a regular tire. service and replace the regular tire as soon as possible. Any continuous road use of this temporary, emergency tire may result in tire failure, loss of vehicle control, and possible INJURY to vehicle occupants.

^ The spare tire is for temporary emergency use only and not for continuous use as a road wheel. When using the temporary spare do not exceed 80km/h (50 mph) under any circumstances. Discontinue temporary spare tire use and install an original equipment tire and wheel as soon as possible.
^ Do not use tire chains with the temporary spare tire.
^ When the temporary spare tire is not in use, check the cold air pressure monthly.
^ When the temporary spare tire is in use, maintain the cold air pressure as specified on the vehicle tire pressure decal.

CAUTION: Because the temporary spare tire has a smaller diameter than the standard tire, ground clearance is reduced. Use care when a temporary spare is being used and avoid any obstacles that may come in contact with the underside of the vehicle.

^ Avoid driving over road hazards such as potholes. Carefully read the Owner Guide before using the temporary spare tire. When the tread wear indicators appear on the temporary spare tire, replace the temporary spare tire. Do not use the temporary spare tire once the tread has worn out.
