Band: Adjustments

1. Drain the automatic transmission fluid (ATF).

WARNING: AVOID SPILLING TRANSMISSION FLUID; THE FLUID MAY BE HOT.

2. Remove the crossmember.
3. Remove the transmission support crossmember.
4. Remove the 17 transmission oil pan mounting bolts and drain the remaining fluid.

WARNING: AVOID SPILLING TRANSMISSION FLUID; THE FLUID MAY BE HOT.

5. Remove the transmission fluid pan and oil pan to case gasket. Discard the oil pan to case gasket.





6. Loosen the servo rod nut and use a torque wrench to adjust the servo band piston. Tighten the piston stem to 11-14 Nm (105-130 inch lbs.).
7. Loosen the piston stem 1.5 turns counterclockwise.
8. Secure the piston stem with a standard wrench and torque the servo rod nut by using a crowfoot wrench and a torque wrench. Tighten the servo rod nut to 25-39 Nm (19-28 ft. lbs.).
9. Install a new oil pan to case gasket on the transmission fluid pan.
10. Install the transmission fluid pan on the transaxle. Tighten the transmission oil pan bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).





11. Install the transmission support crossmember. Tighten the:
Rear Engine Support Nuts (A) to 75-104 Nm (55-77 ft. lbs.)
Bolts And Nuts (B) to 67-93 Nm (50-68 ft. lbs.)
Nuts (C) to 44-50 Nm (32-44 ft. lbs.).
12. Install the crossmember and bolts. Tighten the crossmember bolts to 94-131 Nm (68-96 ft. lbs.).
13. Fill the automatic transaxle with the proper ATF. With the engine at operating temperature, recheck the level and check for leaks.
14 Road test the vehicle and check the shift points and shift quality.
