High Clutch
^ The 3-4 clutch transmits the torque converter drive force to the front planet. The external clutch plate is coupled to the 3-4 clutch cylinder, which is coupled to the turbine shaft. When the turbine shaft rotates, the 3-4 clutch cylinder and external clutch plate rotate together as one component.^ Because the internal clutch plate is coupled to the carrier hub, the internal clutch plate and carrier hub rotate together as one component, causing the front planet to rotate.
^ When hydraulic pressure is applied to the clutch piston, the external clutch plate and the internal clutch plate are pressed together tightly and the rotation of the turbine shaft is transmitted through the 3-4 clutch cylinder and carrier hub to the front planet.
