Planetary Gears: Testing and Inspection

CAUTION: Individual parts of the front planet are not serviceable.

1. Check pins and shafts in planet assemblies for loose fit and/or complete disengagement. Use a new front planet if either condition exists. Before installing a front planet, check shaft welds.
2. Inspect pinion gears for damaged or excessively worn teeth.
3. Check for free rotation of pinion gears.
