Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Turn the ignition switch ON and apply the brake pedal.
2. Move the gearshift lever through each range:
^ Check that the button must be depressed to select REVERSE (R), 2, 1 and PARK (P) ranges but not NEUTRAL (N) or DRIVE (D) range.
^ Check that the gearshift lever position matches the indicator.
^ Check for smooth operation.
^ Check that the gearshift lever clicks in each position.
3. If the gearshift lever is not operating properly, adjust or service the gearshift lever.
