Pressure Plate: Testing and Inspection
1. Inspect the pressure plate surface for burn marks, scores, flatness or ridges.2. If the clutch pressure plate is badly heat-checked or deeply scored, replace the clutch pressure plate.
3. Clean the clutch pressure plate and flywheel surfaces with a suitable commercial alcohol-base solvent.
CAUTION: Do not use cleaners with a petroleum base, and do not immerse the pressure plate in the solvent.
4. Make sure that surfaces are free from any oil film.
5. If a substantial difference in finger wear exists, the heavily worn finger is binding. Replace the clutch pressure plate.
